Privacy policy

At Paste Team, we respect your privacy and believe that the less we know about you, the better both for you and for us. In fact, we do not collect any personal data at all unless you voluntarily provide it to us (e.g., by sending a support email). We limit the information we collect to the minimum necessary to provide you with our service and improve Paste. Our business is developing and selling software, not your personal data.

Below, we've provided detailed information on when and why we collect your personal data and how we use it.

By using our website and/or software, you are accepting the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Paste for Mac and iOS devices

Data storage

Paste stores your data (clipboard history and pinboard items, search index, etc.) in binary and human-readable formats locally on your Mac or iOS device.

If you are using iCloud Sync, Paste stores a copy of your data in your personal iCloud storage to automatically synchronize it across your devices. You can disable iCloud Sync in Paste's Preferences.

This data is not transferred to or stored on our servers, nor do we have access to this data.

Paste also stores your current subscription information in your iCloud storage to allow you to use it on all your devices.

You always have the option to disable Paste's access to iCloud in the System Preferences, as well as delete all Paste's data from iCloud.

Usage Analytics

Paste collects information about the way you use it. This information is anonymized and cannot be used to personally identify you.

We're only interested to know how many users use Paste, what features are used more often, and if there is anything we can do better.

The analytics data may include:

  • unique anonymous identifier of the user and the device you're using;

  • application version, version of the operating system, and type of the device you're using;

  • information about subscription (plan, start/expiration date);

  • actions performed in the application (buttons click, shortcut usage, etc.)

We use Mixpanel and Amplitude to collect, store, and analyze this data.

Crash reporting

If Paste crashes while you're using it, it collects anonymized data about the crash to help us identify and hopefully fix the issues in a future update. This data contains information such as the state of the app, operating system, and device. It does not include your private data and can not be used to personally identify you.

We use AppCenter to collect and analyze crash reports.

Support interaction

When you contact us via a website form, a chat widget, or by sending us an email, we collect your email address and any other information you provided in your message voluntarily.

This information is collected to help resolve your inquiry and stored indefinitely, which may help us answer your questions faster. If you would like to remove the emails you have sent, let us know.

We use Help Scout for customer support, SendGrid for transactional emails, and Gmail for personal messages sometimes.

Updates and questions

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time. Up-to-date information will always be available on this page. The last time it was updated on January 8th, 2020.
