Advanced editor or manipulation of clipboard snippet

I would like to ble able to perform complex text transformations on an item in history with minimal work. TextSoap wold be a good choice but I cant afford it. I was hoping to be able to do so wtih Microsoft Visual Code. The way I see it working. Pull up paste. Right click, pick "external editor". Vscode pops up with a new tab containing the text for the clipboard, I make edits, hit "save", clipboard is updated. The way I do it now, that is ok. 1. Open paste, get text from the right history entry. 2. Open vscode, paste content 3. Edit text. 4. Select text. 5. Insert it into Paste. This could. be made user configurable so it could work with other text editors as well.
