Display Item Titles on iOS

Shipped

With the new two-column view on iOS 17, the title is no longer visible, which was an important way of organizing and finding items. Without the title, it makes it much harder to differentiate similar items. Some examples: - Saved URLs - Cryptocurrency addresses - Code snippets - ISBN's - Bank routing numbers - UTF-8 characters While I can search for the title, I cannot pick out the desired item in the long list of partial matches. Nor can I rely on the position: the desired item might be the second item in the results one week, and the third item in the results the next week. The visual feedback of the title is a crucial piece of feedback for retrieving saved items. As far as I can tell, the only way of getting at the title in the new mobile app now is to long-tap and select Quick Look. Now, imagine having three search results that look similar and needing to long-tap, select Quick Look, and close Quick Look for each of the search results until I find the desired item. This introduces too much friction into the search process. New designs are inevitably controversial, but I hope I have made a strong case for why hiding the search title in the new mobile design has serous usability consequences. Thanks so much.
