Connect Paste to Claude Code

Connect Paste to Claude Code to use your clipboard history as context while you work in Terminal. Once connected, Claude Code can search Paste, work with copied items, save new items, and manage pinboards on your Mac.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  1. The latest version of Paste installed on your Mac.

  2. Claude Code installed and signed in.

  3. Paste running on your Mac.

How to connect Claude Code

  1. Go to Paste Settings.

  2. Click MCP & AI Tools.

  3. Enable MCP.

  4. Click Connect AI Tool.

  5. Choose Claude Code.

  6. Paste will show a command for Terminal.

  7. Copy and run the command in Terminal.

  8. Start Claude Code.

  9. Type /mcp.

  10. Select Paste and authenticate.

When the setup is complete, go back to Paste. Claude Code should appear in the Connected AI Tools list.

Try your first prompt

Start with something simple:

Check Paste for the last thing I copied.

Manage access

You can review connected tools in Paste settings at any time.

To disconnect Claude Code:

  1. Open Paste Settings.

  2. Go to MCP & AI Tools.

  3. Click the three dots next to Claude Code.

  4. Click disconnect.

You can also remove Paste from Claude Code using Claude Code MCP settings.

Things to know

Paste MCP runs locally on your Mac. Claude Code can connect to Paste only after you approve access.

Keep Paste running while using Paste MCP with Claude Code.

Your clipboard history stays under your control, and you can remove access at any time.
