Connect Paste to Claude Desktop
Connect Paste to Claude Desktop to use your clipboard history as context in Claude. Once connected, Claude can search Paste, work with copied items, save new items, and manage pinboards on your Mac.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
The latest version of Paste installed on your Mac.
Claude Desktop installed and signed in.
Paste running on your Mac.
How to connect Claude Desktop
Go to Paste Settings.
Click MCP & AI Tools.
Enable MCP.
Click Connect AI Tool & Choose Claude Desktop.
Click Install Extension. Claude Desktop will open automatically.
In Claude Desktop, click Install. Confirm the installation when prompted.
Make sure the Paste extension is enabled in Claude Desktop.
When the setup is complete, go back to Paste. Claude Desktop should appear in the Connected AI Tools list.
Try your first prompt
Open a new conversation in Claude and try something simple:
Check Paste for the last link I copied.
Manage access
You can review connected tools in Paste settings at any time.
To disconnect Claude Desktop:
Open Paste Settings.
Go to MCP & AI Tools.
Click the three dots next to Claude Desktop.
Click Disconnect.
You can also disable Paste from Claude Desktop extension settings.
Things to know
Paste MCP runs locally on your Mac. Claude Desktop can connect to Paste only after you approve the extension.
Claude may show a standard warning before installing the extension. Make sure the extension is from Paste Team ApS before you continue.
Your clipboard history stays under your control, and you can remove access at any time.
