Connect Paste to a custom AI tool
You can connect Paste to any AI tool that supports custom MCP servers. Once connected, the tool can search Paste, work with copied items, save new items, and manage pinboards on your Mac.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
The latest version of Paste installed on your Mac.
An AI tool that supports custom MCP servers.
Paste running on your Mac.
How to connect a custom tool
Go to Paste Settings.
Click MCP & AI Tools.
Enable MCP.
Click Connect AI Tool.
Choose Custom Tool.
Copy the Server URL shown in Paste.
Copy the Token shown in Paste.
Add both values to your AI tool’s MCP configuration.
When the setup is complete, your AI tool should be able to connect to Paste.
Try your first prompt
Start with something simple:
Check Paste for the last link I copied
Manage access
You can review connected tools in Paste settings at any time.
To disconnect a custom tool:
Open Paste Settings.
Go to MCP & AI Tools.
Click the three dots next to the connected tool.
Disconnect.
You can also remove Paste from your AI tool’s MCP configuration.
Things to know
Paste MCP runs locally on your Mac. Custom tools can connect to Paste only with the server details you approve and configure.
Keep your token private. Anyone with the server URL and token may be able to connect to Paste while MCP is enabled.
Your clipboard history stays under your control, and you can remove access at any time.
